Episode Summary
[...Neal and Peter make a house call when an extremely valuable work by the painter Haustenberg is stolen from a Manhattan residence. The owner, 22-year-old Julianna Laszlo, inherited the house and the painting from her grandmother, not knowing how much it was worth. Neal thinks her uncle Gary may be responsible. Gary lawyers up quickly, but that doesn’t stop Neal from confronting the jumpy stock trader. As it turns out, Gary was just a tipster working for a small cut. The real thief? Gerard Dorsett, a high-end loan shark with a very violent side. Dorsett had been trying to unload the Haustenberg all over town, so Peter sets up a sting operation at a high-end gallery with Neal posing as a prospective buyer. But the sting goes sour, and when Dorsett smells the trap, the wary thief escapes with the painting and one hundred thousand dollars of the FBI’s money. Needless to say, Peter’s bosses are pissed. And to make matters worse, the curator from the Channing Museum shows up. Apparently, the painting actually belongs to the museum. Did Julianna’s grandmother steal the Haustenberg first? The only way to set the story straight is for Neal and Peter to recover the painting. The problem is, Dorsett went underground, and the only lead Peter and Neal have to follow is the first name of a girlfriend – not much when a priceless painting and FBI money are at stake...] - USA Networks

Episode Summary

[...Peter thinks he’s in for it when Elizabeth shows up at the office with her friend Dana in tow. But Peter isn’t the one in trouble this time; it’s Dana’s husband, Captain John Mitchell, who is in the hot seat. Recently returned from his final tour in Iraq, John is wanted by the FBI for smuggling stolen Iraqi artifacts into the country. John swears he’s innocent. Another man, Patrick Aimes, had asked him to bring some goods back to the United States, but John refused. However, overwhelming fingerprint and DNA evidence say otherwise. Still, Peter and Neal think there is something to John’s story, and their suspicions deepen after Peter pays a visit to Patrick Aimes. A re-examination of the artifacts yields a stunning realization - someone had to have planted John’s prints. But who? All signs point to Alisha Teagen, a reporter embedded with John’s unit in Iraq. The question is, how to link her to Aimes? Peter and Neal pay Teagen a visit at work, but the cagey reporter is wary of Peter’s questioning. Meanwhile, Neal filches a closely guarded pawnshop ticket from Teagen’s locked desk that leads them to a gold Iraqi coin. It’s the crucial piece of evidence they need to pin Aimes and Teagen to the crime, but it was obtained illegally. Without any recourse, Neal and Peter must find a way to make the evidence stick, or watch as John is sent to prison for a crime he didn’t commit...] - Wikipedia

Episode Summary
[...On a routine stakeout of a well-known mob hang out, Agent Cruz and Agent Jones get a surprise visit from Leo Barelli, the local mob boss. Someone stole the Bible from Barelli’s church, and he wants it back... badly enough to come to the FBI for help. Peter and Neal soon discover that this is no ordinary Bible. Over five centuries old, the Book is rumored to have the power to heal the sick. Peter is skeptical, but Neal knows there are true believers out there. Neal’s theory leads them right to the culprit: Steve, a homeless veteran who took the Bible to save his sick dog, Lucy. As it turns out, Steve was actually hired to take the Bible by none other than Paul Ignazio, Barelli’s nephew. Why would Barelli’s own nephew steal from him? Unfortunately, Peter and Neal won’t get any answers from Ignazio, who is found dead in the east river. Peter heads down to the scene, but he hits a roadblock in the form of Agent Joseph Ruiz, an old adversary who’s heading up the Organized Crime Unit. Peter knows the Ignazio killing somehow leads into his Bible investigation, but Ruiz pulls rank. He doesn’t want Peter anywhere near his crime scene. Of course, Peter may have his hands tied, but that doesn’t mean Neal has to sit out. Neal and Mozzie investigate Ignazio’s apartment and come up with Maria Fiametta, a local art historian who is familiar with Neal’s past exploits. Peter thinks Maria has something to hide, but she’s just too smart to keep the Bible close. If Neal convinced Maria he was coming out of retirement, would she give up the book? There’s only one way to find out, but for Peter it means putting all the cards in Neal’s hands...] -

Episode Summary

[...It's Fashion Week, and while Neal is enjoying himself, Peter is less enthusiastic about the legion of beautiful women that has descended on Manhattan. Things get worse when one of those beautiful women is witness to a murder. Peter and Neal interview a model named Tara who watched as the notorious Israeli counterfeiter Ghovat killed one of his business associates. Peter thinks Ghovat is in town with something to sell, and fashion week gives him the perfect cover. But how to find this man they call "The Ghost?" Neal has an unorthodox suggestion: throw a party. Judging by Ghovat's proclivity for gorgeous women and glamorous scenes, it's only a matter of time before he shows up. With Elizabeth's event planning expertise, Peter and Neal plan a lavish affair designed to catch the eye of the counterfeiter. Neal and Tara work the party, keeping an eye out for Ghovat, while Lauren Cruz, a beautiful, whip-smart agent transferred from the Violent Crimes Unit, keeps an eye on Neal. The trap is set, but the wary Ghovat slips through the FBI's fingers. Back at square one, the team shifts focus to Ghovat's buyer, Dmitri. Meanwhile, Neal worries that the mystery man who took Kate to San Diego has also switched focus - to Neal! Neal doesn't know what he's after, but he's convinced that Kate tried to warn him through a secret message on her final prison visit. The problem is, Peter is the one with the security footage from that day, and Neal doesn't think his new partner will be too keen on letting him have the tape. But it's the former con man's turn to be surprised when Peter agrees to let Neal have the tape...just as soon as they wrap up the Ghovat case. Unfortunately, that's going to be easier said than done, as Dmitri winds up dead by Ghovat's hand. "The Ghost" may be slipping away again...] - Wikipedia

Episode Description

[...In the series premiere, con man Neal Caffrey breaks out of a maximum-security prison, the FBI calls the man who put him there in the first place, agent Peter Burke. Peter knows that Neal escaped to find Kate, the love of his life. However, when Peter arrives at Kate's apartment in Manhattan, he finds the con man alone. Neal was too late; Kate is gone. Faced with another four years in prison, Neal offers to help Peter catch “the Dutchman,” an elusive counterfeiter Peter has been chasing for years. There is just one small catch; in exchange for his expertise, Neal wants his freedom. Peter accepts, on the conditions that Neal wears a tracking anklet and that he forgets about Kate. Neal agrees to Peter's terms, but he quickly befriends well-to-do widow June and trades in his FBI provided motel-room for her palatial Manhattan mansion. June also outfits Neal with a closet full of her late husband's designer suits. Neal is definitely living the good life, much to Peter's chagrin. Peter can't deny that he and the con man make a good team. After the FBI seizes a shipment of antique books headed for the Dutchman, Neal and Peter realize the counterfeiter is using antique paper from the books to forge hundreds of rare 1944 Spanish Victory bonds. With most of the real bonds rumored to have been lost forever, the Dutchman would stand to make millions. Neal's expertise pays off when his shadowy contact Mozzie helps them identify the Dutchman as Curtis Hagen, a talented art restorer who's own work never took off. Neal and Peter pay Hagen a visit but the savvy forger recognizes Neal and books a flight out of the country in a week's time. Another tip leads the duo to Hagen's waterfront warehouse but they still need a warrant to take him down. Meanwhile, try as he might, Neal can't stop thinking about Kate. Mozzie is able to dig up information on her whereabouts, but it's not enough. And with only seven days until Hagen escapes, Neal must find a way to link the forger to the bonds, or he'll wind up back behind bars, losing Kate for good...] - Wikipedia
